Nothing’s new in terms of mocking wives, as this antique (circa late 1800s – 1910s) proves.
Here’s to our wives —
They keep our hives in little bees and honey.
They darn our socks, and save life’s shocks,
And they also spend our money.

Funny how it’s the women who keep the hive in little bees. As if the men had no part in it and no interest in it either. As if they are apart from everything to do with the children, yet at the end they focus on having control or being the one with money. Although, it does say “our” money. I don’t think it means his and hers.
